New models - Volkswagen - AmarokVW slashes price of slow-selling AmarokVolkswagen discounts MY24 plated Amarok Core, Aventura, PanAmericana by up to $90001 May 2025 By MATT BROGAN VOLKSWAGEN is offering drive-away deals on selected Amarok utility variants until the end of June, amounting to discounts of up to $9000.
Applicable to MY24 plated entry-grade Core, and flagship Aventura and PanAmericana variants, the offer reduces the price of the Amarok Core TDI405 by over $6000, and the high-grade Aventura and PanAmericana duo by up to $9000 (when based on a NSW metropolitan postcode).
Until June 30, the Volkswagen Amarok Core is available from $53,990 drive-away, the Aventura from $79,990 drive-away, and the PanAmericana from $76,990 drive-away.
The offer follows similar discounting of the Amarok Style variant in February and comes as the German importer struggles to match the sales success of its twin-under-the-skin Ford Ranger – and others.
First quarter sales show Volkswagen shifted just 1429 examples of the Amarok (down 35.8 per cent year-on-year) compared with 13,226 Ford Ranger models (noting sales of the Ranger are likewise down by 12.5 per cent in 4WD format and 49.8 per cent for the 2WD).
Increased competition from Chinese importers has also seen stalwart ute sales diluted in recent times.
BYD’s popular Shark 6 PHEV has already found 4836 buyers in its first few months on sale, almost topping sales of the Isuzu D-Max utility across the same period (with 4891 sales in comparable 4WD format and 1305 sales for the 2WD).
The GWM Ute has also outsold the Volkswagen Amarok in Q1 with 1630 unit sales (4WD and 2WD sales combined).
Adding that number with sales of the GWM Cannon (563) and Cannon Alpha (437) we find GWM now placed higher on the leader board than the Nissan Navara (2364), Toyota LandCruiser (2304), and Volkswagen Amarok (1459).
According to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles product manager Michael Cenci, the offer will continue the German brand’s focus on “combining an elevated feel and driveability with stronger value than ever”.
“The Amarok is Australia’s most elevated ute, and the second-generation model is now more attainable than ever,” he said.
“The Amarok Core has the ergonomics, the solid and firm dynamic characteristics and the confident off-road ability that outpoint several lesser-known brands.
“The Core targets ostensibly ‘cheaper’ utes with a stronger value proposition, while being more attainable than other mainstream utes.
“We also know that our iconic V6 Amaroks are well loved by loyalists and new customers alike.
“The PanAmericana and Aventura deliver off road ability and luxury that customers can rely on, while again challenging new and mainstream rivals with a strong value proposition.”
Further information on the Amarok and other current offers are available on Volkswagen’s public website.
