New models - Polestar - 3Polestar 3 update pricing announcedPricing and specifications confirmed for revised Polestar 3, now from $116,700 + ORC7 Mar 2026 By MATT BROGAN
POLESTAR Australia has confirmed pricing and specification for its upgraded Polestar 3 range, due in local showrooms towards the middle of the year.
With a new 800-volt electrical architecture, lowered entry price, and the inclusion of the formerly optional Plus pack as standard across the range, Polestar Australia says the Polestar 3 represents a significant step forward for its flagship SUV.
The vehicle’s new 800-volt architecture (up from 400V previously) enables faster DC charging than before, now rated at 350kW. Polestar says the improvement means the Polestar 3 may be charged in as little as 22 minutes against the 10-80 per cent scale, or 25 per cent faster than was previously the case.
The new electrical architecture also brings efficient enhancements of up to six per cent on the WLTP cycle, with rear-motor models now offering a CATL-sourced 92kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and dual-motor and Performance variants a 106kWh unit.
The increased battery capacity has further allowed Polestar to offer the Polestar 3 with a newly developed permanent magnet synchronous rear motor, paired with an asynchronous front motor in dual-motor formats. The combination offers up to 500kW of system power in the Performance variant.
The front motor now features automatic disconnect functionality when coasting or when otherwise not required, further improving efficiency and range. The new rear motor also means the power balance has shifted to offer the Polestar 3 a greater rear bias that was possible previously.
These changes, combined with updated anti-roll bars and “extensive software refinement” for the steering is said to offer Polestar 3 owners an even more direct and engaging driving experience across all model variants.
The Polestar 3 is also set to lead the way as the first European software-defined vehicle with a major upgrade to its core computing system. Now featuring a Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processor, the system is able to process a remarkable 254 trillion operations per second – well ahead of the outgoing Xavier unit’s 30 operations per second.
This technological leap is said to enable the faster, and more intelligent management of active safety systems, battery performance, and sensor data, and will be offered to existing Polestar 3 owners as a hardware retrofit.
Elsewhere, the upgraded Polestar 3 introduces a new trim level structure comprising the Polestar 3 Rear motor, Dual motor, and Performance to offer “a clearer distinction between versions”.
Part of the change sees the entry-grade model offers with the aforementioned 92kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and active air suspension now becoming optional for the Dual motor, while remaining standard on the Performance variant.
Polestar says the altered trim levels will be expressed through individual design elements which include the seatbelts – with solid black for the Rear motor, black with a Swedish gold stripe for the Dual motor, and belts in full Swedish gold for the Performance variant.
A revised pack and options strategy is further said to make it easier for customers to tailor their car with the new Climate pack including heated rear seats, steering wheel, and front wiper blades.
An electrochromatic glass roof is also introduced as a single option for all Polestar 3 variants.
Elsewhere, we note two new exterior colour ways – Storm replacing Thunder, and Krypton as a new green metallic hue. These optional hues (+$2000 and +$3200 respectively) join standard Magnesium, $2000 option Space and Midnight, and $3200 option Snow.
The changes join updated door text graphics, and, inside, two new upholstery finishes that include Nebula MicroTech and Dune nappa leather.
The standard upholstery is upgraded to Charcoal MicroTech complimented by repurposed aluminium garnishing.
Pricing for the 2026 (MY27) Polestar 3 now begins from $116,700 plus on-road costs, a decrease of $1720 when compared with the previous model’s entry price. All Australian Polestar 3 variants further receive the Plus pack as standard, previously a $9000 option.
Specification highlights for the Polestar 3 Rear motor include a system output of 245kW/480Nm, a top speed of 210km/h, a 0-100km/h time of 6.5 seconds, and a claimed driving range of up to 604km (WLTP).
The Dual motor (from $131,100 + ORC) ups the system output figures to 400kW/740Nm, top speed to 230km/h, and a reduced 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.7 seconds. Range is listed at up to a claimed 635km (WLTP).
Finally, for the flagship Performance grade (from $146,700 + ORC) we find a system output figure of 500kW/870Nm, a top speed of 230km/h, and a 0-100km/h time of just 3.9 seconds. The WLTP claimed driving range is listed at up to 593km.
Package options include as standard the Pilot pack with 360-degree camera technology, 3D view, Pilot assist, curve speed assist, lane change assist, and park pilot assist; and Plus pack (also standard) with Bowers & Wilkens premium sound, head-up display, IR windscreen, acoustic rear windscreen, advanced cabin air filtration, a power-operated steering column, soft-close doors, and a foldable cargo area floor with bag holders.
That leaves the Climate pack (+$1200) as the only optional pack, now offering a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and heated front wiper blades.
Solitary options include Charcoal wool upholstery with repurposed aluminium garnishing (+$1200), Nebula MicroTech upholstery with repurposed aluminium garnishing (+$900), Dune or Zinc leather upholstery with black ash garnishing (+$7200), Charcoal leather upholstery with black ash garnishing (+$6500), 21-inch Plus alloy wheels (+$1900), 22-inch Sport alloy wheels (+$3800), adaptive air suspension (+$3200), high-definition LED headlights (+$3000), electric retractable towbar (+$2900), rear privacy glass (+$700), and an electrochromatic glass roof (+$2800).
“The upgrades to Polestar 3 are so extensive, (that) it’s like an entirely new car,” said Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller.
“With this upgrade, we continue to deliver on our commitment to add value for our customers through over-the-air software and hardware updates. The already amazing Polestar 3 is now better than ever.”
