The self-charging hybrid is powered by the combination of a turbocharged 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a single electric motor to offer 107kW total system output. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering a claimed combined cycle fuel consumption tally of 5.1 litres per 100km.
Available in Allure and GT Premium grades, the mid-sized offering arrives generously equipped as standard with features including a 21.0-inch panoramic touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and device charging options, combination cloth and ‘leather effect’ upholstery, 19-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured grille, roof, and rear spoiler, Orbital black wing mirror covers, tri-zone climate control.
Seven ‘full size’ seats are offered with the 60:40 split second row featuring slide and tilt functionality for access to the third row of seats. Minimum cargo capacity is listed at 348 litres with 2232 litres available all told.
In standard format, the 5008 Hybrid also features an extensive list of standard safety inclusions, with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, front and rear acoustic parking sensors, lane keep and lane following assistance, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree camera system on offer.
Stepping up to the GT Premium (from $67,990) we find Nappa leather upholstery, massaging, heated, and ventilated front seats with 10-way power adjustment and memory functionality, heated outboard second-row seating, a panoramic sunroof, integrated rear side window sunblinds, a contrasting Diamond Black roof, multi-mode spoiler/sunroof, handsfree tailgate function, six-mode Pixel LED headlights, aluminium dashboard garnishing, and stainless steel sill covers.

Peugeot Australia backs the 5008 Hybrid with a five-year/200,000km warranty and capped-price servicing for five years.

“The 5008 Hybrid SUV is a powerful symbol of Peugeot’s future, where stunning European design meets exceptional hybrid performance,” said Peugeot Australia general manager David Owen.
“It’s not just a vehicle; it’s an experience tailored for tomorrow’s drivers. It’s built to be noticed, designed to be driven and engineered to lead.”
The 5008 Hybrid duo will join the petrol-powered 5008 GT as competitors within the Medium SUV segment.
In the Under $60K portion of the category it will vie against the likes of the Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander which lead the segment with YTD sales of 21,613 and 10,203 respectively.
While in the Over $60K segment, it will take on the likes of the Lexus NX and Mazda CX-60 whose sales total 2427 and 2343 for the year to date.
VFACTS year-to-date shows sales of the Peugeot 5008 tally just four units – or less than one per month.
