Oxford Edition marks Mini milestone

Union Jack-themed Cooper S special celebrates 25 years of modern Mini production

13 Jul 2026

MINI will celebrate 25 years of modern Mini production with a limited-run Cooper Oxford Edition, of which just 40 examples have been secured for Australia.

Due to arrive locally in the fourth quarter of 2026, the special edition pays tribute to Mini’s British origins and its long association with Oxford, where the original Mini was first produced in 1959 and BMW Group has built the modern interpretation since 2001.

All Australian examples will be based on the petrol-powered Mini Cooper S 3-Door, with the local allocation split evenly between 20 vehicles finished in Chili Red II and 20 in Indigo Sunset Blue.

Pricing and complete Australian specifications will be announced closer to the model’s arrival.

Mini says the Oxford Edition brings together historical references, contemporary design and personalisation elements intended to recognise both the manufacturing site and the evolution of the modern Mini over the past quarter-century.

The most prominent exterior feature is a contemporary Union Jack graphic applied across the roof, incorporating a central red and white stripe that runs longitudinally along the vehicle.

Both available paint colours are paired with contrasting white exterior mirror caps, while 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone alloy wheels, coordinated wheel-hub covers and matching valve caps complete the exterior treatment.

The Union Jack theme continues inside, appearing as a textured graphic on the lower, six-o’clock section of the steering wheel.

Edition-specific floor mats feature a circular Union Jack motif on the driver’s side and a chequered-flag design on the passenger side, the latter referencing Mini’s long-standing motorsport heritage.

Unique door sill plates complete the interior changes and commemorate 25 years of the modern Mini each time occupants enter the vehicle.

Although no mechanical changes have been detailed, the Oxford Edition will be offered exclusively in Cooper S form locally.

The current Cooper S 3-Door is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, with Australian-market output and equipment details for the Oxford Edition to be confirmed ahead of launch.

Mini Australia general manager Alexander Brockhoff said the limited model offered local buyers an opportunity to own a vehicle celebrating the marque’s heritage and individual character.

“The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition pays tribute to the birthplace of Mini and the character that has made the brand so loved around the world,” he said.

“With a limited Australian allocation, this edition gives our local Mini fans a rare opportunity to own a car that celebrates both the brand’s British heritage and its spirit of individuality.”

Mini will also introduce a corresponding Oxford Capsule lifestyle collection featuring design cues drawn from the vehicle.

The collection includes a traveller bag, unisex T-shirts, a cap, Oxford-themed stickers, and Mini’s Umbrella Walking Stick, with textile products finished in dark blue and decorated with Union Jack-inspired detailing.

Further information, including pricing and standard equipment, is expected closer to the Mini Cooper Oxford Edition’s Australian arrival late this year.
