Future models - Skoda - Fabia - 130Fastest Skoda Fabia yet not for AustraliaSkoda celebrates 130-year history with rally-bred Fabia 130 variant, but not for Aus15 Oct 2025 SKODA is celebrating its 130-year history with the Fabia 130, and in a nod to its rich motorsport heritage the commemorative model will be the fastest road-going hot hatch the brand has ever built.
Deliveries will commence from December in European markets but, unfortunately for local fans of the Czech brand, Volkswagen Group Australia told GoAuto the model is not currently planned for Australia.
The Czech car-maker started with two wheels back in 1895, first building bicycles, and then motorcycles, but by 1905 produced its first car, the Laurin & Klement Voiturette – named after the brand’s founders.
For more than 120 years, Skoda has been involved in motorsport too, from its Vaclav Vondrich motorcycle in 1905 that beat the next-closest competitor by nine minutes, to the underdog Popular Sport that placed second in the 1936 Monte Carlo, and today its Fabia-based rally cars.
It makes sense then that the Fabia 130 honours Skoda’s racing DNA, drawing inspiration from the brand’s Fabia RS Rally2 – an ultra-hot production rally car with oodles of aero and a potent 1.6-litre turbo four-pot producing 214kW/430Nm.
However, the Fabia 130 is closer to the standard model than its rally-bred sibling, but it will be the quickest road-going hatch the brand has offered, given its current RS stablemates are wagons, sedans and SUVs.
The Fabia 130 scores the same 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the downstream Monte Carlo model but produces a peppier 130kW/250Nm (up 20kW) running through a seven-speed automatic.
According to Skoda, its powertrain engineers upgraded the intake plenum and rocker arms, and the seven-speed DSG has also been tuned to offer higher shift points, double-clutch downshifts, and faster re-acceleration.
This equates to a 0-100km/h time of 7.4 seconds, besting the Monte Carlo’s 8.0-second time, and a top speed of 228km/h.
Skoda has also lowered the Fabia 130 by 15mm and says the steering has been modified for a more direct response.
Visual changes are subtle, when compared with the Monte Carlo variant, consisting of blacked-out trim, dual exhaust tips, and ‘130’ badging inside and out.
"As a key part of our product portfolio, the Fabia has been immensely successful with over 5 million units produced since 1999,” said Skoda board of management member for sales and marketing, Martin Jahn.
“This limited edition and fastest series-produced Fabia highlights our commitment to performance through increased power and various visual upgrades, adding a new level of excitement to our model series." ![]() Read more24th of September 2025 ![]() Skoda Kodiaq RS priced ahead of 2026 arrivalSportier Skoda seven-seat SUV scheduled for H1 2026 sale, pricing from $69,990 + ORCAll future models Alfa Romeo Abarth Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chrysler Chevrolet Dodge Citroen Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton Haval Great Wall Honda Holden Hyundai HSV Isuzu Infiniti Jaguar Iveco Kia Jeep Land Rover Lamborghini Maserati Lexus McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mitsubishi Mini Opel Nissan Porsche Peugeot Ram Proton Rolls-Royce Renault Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla VolvoFabia pricing
