Future models - Genesis - G90Genesis G90 Wingback Concept a certified stunnerGenesis shows off “iron fist in velvet glove” G90 Wingback Concept15 Dec 2025 GENESIS set the internet ablaze with its tenth anniversary antics, which included unveiling the G90 Wingback Concept that highlights what is possible as part of its One of One bespoke program.
The Hyundai luxury sub-brand is known for lairish concept models, but the G90 Wingback is amongst its most daring, hinting at a sporting focus for the future that goes beyond big wings and horsepower.
Recently, Genesis unveiled its performance Magma badge, targeting competitors like Mercedes-Benz AMG and BMW M, with the GV60 Magma production model and GT racer Magma GT Concept shown for the first time.
Now, the G90 Wingback offers a follow-up taste of the brand’s future intentions, but in an elegant one-off package that Genesis chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke says is a “materialisation of the iron fist in a velvet glove”.
The fact it’s a major deviation from the ubiquitous, and rather boring, SUV body type is also intentional, the design head emphasises.
“At the moment there is, let’s say, a multiplication of SUVs… and this fast growth will create a saturation,” said Mr Donckerwolke.
“This is when other typologies of cars are going to become attractive again.”
While not slated for production (yet, but we can only hope that changes), the G90 Wingback Concept is based on an unmodified long wheelbase G90 platform which is suitable thanks to its 3200mm wheelbase.
But, at 5100mm long, the G90 Wingback is a very lanky beast indeed, close to the limo-esque long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class in length while offering a sleek shooting brake side profile.
The model features distinctive Genesis design cues like a crest grille and two-line headlights, but it’s the performance wagon proportions and pumped guards that give it a unique edge.
The front guards are so pumped, in order to fit 22-inch wheels and what is likely very wide rubber, that they feature DTM style gaps where the guards would typically meet the doorline for an aggressive aesthetic completed by front canards.
Up the back, the roofline has been stretched, ending with a sharply raked rear hatch featuring two spoilers – the lower being a duck-lip style unit – while a rear diffuser rounds things out.
Inside, the customisation continues with green stitching across the suede-like Chamude trim, and the brand’s Magma logo is featured on the seat bolsters.
While powertrain details have not been revealed, the long-wheelbase G90 – not available in Australia – uses a 3.5-litre V6 that is both turbocharged and supercharged to produce 305kW/549Nm.
Besides perhaps an Audi RS6, there’s nothing quite like the G90 Wingback on offer today, so we can only hope the team at Genesis take the internet’s widespread applause seriously. ![]() Read more24th of November 2025 ![]() Genesis fires across AMG bowsOrange-hot Magma sub-brand opens with sizzling SUV and race-track focused GTAll future modelsMotor industry news |
